The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors contracted with K. Brehm, of the Constant Angle Dam Company, San Francisco, CA, to prepare plans and specifications and supervise construction of the Pacoima Dam, located five miles northeast of San Fernando, CA, at a cost of $1.5 million. When completed in 1929, this 365-foot dam stood as the tallest arch dam in the United States. It reservoir could hold up to 3,777 acre feet of water. (See "Miscellaneous Proposed Work," Engineering News Record, v. 86 no. 4, 01/27/1921, p. 52.) The original contract noted that the dam would stand 385 feet high.
