The Portland, OR-based real estate investment company, Gerding Edlen, supervised the adaptive reuse of the 1,563,000-square-foot Blitz-Weinhard Brewery into the Brewery Blocks mixed-use development between 1999-2008. The Brewery Blocks' seven buildings contain offices, stores and residences and are located in the heart of the renovated Pearl District. According to Gerding Edlen's web site in 2013, the Brewery Blocks are composed of 1 LEED Platinum, 4 LEED Gold and 1 LEED Silver buildings. (See "Brewery Blocks,"Accessed 04/05/2013.) In addition to renovating existing buildings in the complex, Gerding Edlen also erected two new skyscrapers, Brewery Block 2, a 10-story, $36.8 million tower and Brewery Block 3, a 15-story, $48.6 million building.
