An arson fire destroyed the 1st Presbyterian Church #2 on 02/13/1931, leaving virtually nothing salvageable, save for the Bidwell Memorial Window, a stained glass piece added to the first church in 1901, and then transferred to the second. Sacramento architectural firm of Dean and Satterlee utilized the foundations of the previous church, rebuilding in the English Gothic Perpendicular Style. Dean and Satterlee worked with the building contractor, D.H. Bennett, on the rebuilding.
