This was the fourth building that has housed the Avenal Branch Library which dated its origins to 1923 in a cupboard of Mrs. Lillian Evans's house; the first three occupied spaces in existing storefronts, while this facility was purpose-built within a larger building project. The Kings County Library moved its Avenal Branch to a government center at 501 Kings Street on 03/23/1981.

The Kings County Library, Avenal Branch underwent enlargement in 1988-1989.
