John Considine (1868–1943) purchased an interest in Edison's Unique Theater in 1902, the first investment he made in an entertainment business that did not serve alcohol. Previously, Considine and his brother made money from bars and box-houses operating in the Skid Road area of Seattle, south of Yesler Way.
