Northeast corner of 46th Street and Sloat Boulevard

The first Fat Boy Barbecue Stand operated on the northeast corner of 46th Street and Sloat Boulevard from c. 1925-1972. The stand, selling oak-fired barbecue pork and beef sandwiches, milk shakes and soft drinks, was situated nearby to well-traveled auto routes and popular leisure destinations such as Ocean Beach and the Fleishhacker Pool. A successful first venture, a second Fat Boy Cabin opened at the Great Highway and Lincoln Way during the next decade.

Demolished; it was replaced c. 1972 by a Doggie Diner location, a San Francisco restaurant chain founded in 1949.
