Building History
Seattle architectural firm of Boone and Meeker designed the residence for Solomon G. Simpson in 1887. Simpson worked for J.K. Murphy and Company, a railroad contracting firm, in 1890. At this time, his house was located at 717 Madison Street. It is not known where Simpson's house was before 1889. Ochsner and Andersen in Distant Corner, indicated its location to have been near 6th Avenue (p. 299), although Simpson's address was not published in Seattle city directories before 1890.
