S.B. Hinds, Corliss P. Stone (1838-1906) and Charles H. Burnett formed a real estate company in 1867 and, soon thereafter, erected several notable buildings in early Seattle, WA. Their real estate office, located in Pioneer Square, stood out as one of the earliest buildings in town, containing two-stories and secure, "fireproof" iron shutters enclosing its doors and windows. Stone would later remain in business with Burnett, when he allegedly absconded with $15,000 in firm funds and fled to San Francisco, CA, with a married woman (not his wife). Somehow, Stone reconstructed his reputation in Seattle, and by 1880, was again an influential member of its business community.
