Building Notes

Unbuilt; architect Bjarne Moe (1904-1980) produced a design for an L-shaped facility, composed of four, connected wings. Three of these wings had three floors, the main wing (in the middle of the L's long dimension) had four. All wings were covered by compound hipped roofs, each section given a modest amount of American Colonial Revival styling. A cupola crowned the roof above the main door in the four-story wing, a prominent Colonial Revival focal point in the composition's center. An advertisement in the Washington Posten, published on 04/27/1944, announced the beginning of fund-raising for this new retirement facility.
