The Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper occupied this building from 1986-present. According to a HistoryLink.org article, this building was the Post-Intelligencer's 11th home. It previously occupied a building at 521 Wall Street from 1948 until 1986. (See "Seattle Post-Intelligencer (1863-2009),"Accessed 12/14/2012.) Between 09/30/2007 and 09/30/2008, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer paper circulation went down 7.8% from 127,584 to 117,572. (The Seattle Times also saw a drop of 7.7% from 215,311 to 198,741 copies.) This long decline in subscription and newsbox sales, convinced the paper's owner, the Hearst Corporation, to discontinue the paper's publication on 03/17/2009. A web site continued to be produced by a skeleton staff. Legacy Partners II owned the building in 2012.

The 101 Elliott Avenue West Building occupied a 46,209-square-foot lot and had 208,210 gross square feet, 101,160 net. Tel: (206) 464-2121 (2004);
