This was the first store opened by Vern Fortin, a longtime food marketer, who began this store in 1955. In 1960, he merged his store with Lake Hills Thriftway, to form another chain which came to be known as Quality Food Centers" in 1963.

Alterations were done in 1980.

Demolished; the demolition process began 11/27/2012. The site was cleared to make room for the Roosevelt District stop of Sound Transit's light rail station. The space was needed to stage equipment and office trailers for the underground subway stop.
