William Taylor was a dentist who lived in this house with his wife, Betty, and their two daughters. Taylor conceived of its as a live/work space; the first floor provided space for his dental practice, the upper floor contained living quarters. The Taylors engaged the Jardeen Brothers as building contractors. The locally-based Douglas Fir Plywood Association, an industry marketing cooperative, selected the Taylor House as an advertising model, given its extensive use of plywood on the interior and exterior
