This property located on West Mercer Way was sold to businessman Michael O’Brien for $6 million in 10/2007. Money from this sale helped to fund the $15 million Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club PEAK Building at 4120 86th Avenue SE, which replaced this club facility. O'Brien, head of the O'Brien Automotive Group, turned the property into a park and athletic center, and leased it to the Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club for $1 per year for 10 years. An article in the Puget Sound Business Journal of 10/10/2007 stated: "'Our plan is to keep the existing gym, improve the current T-ball field, demolish the remainder of the old facility, and build a new Little League baseball field,' said Michael O'Brien, owner of the O'Brien Auto Group, in a statement about plans for the West Mercer Way property." Partially demolished. Drastic alterations occurred to the building c. 2010, with the demolition of all of it save for its gymnasium.
