The commercial building at 619 Western Avenue occupied a 7,200-square-foot lot.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) sought the demolition of the commercial building at 619 Western Avenue during preparations for the Alaskan Way Tunnel, but following intense lobbying by a coalition of preservation groups, WSDOT, reversed its decision. An exterior steel frame will be applied to the building during construction, and grout injected into the soil, to stabilize it.
