The Charles H. Edwards House was located in the Hollywood Hills; it was named House Beautiful's "House of the Year" in 1938, and was included in the 1940 copy of the Architectural Forum book, The book of small houses by the editors of the Architectural forum; LA Historic-Cultural Monument #260 in Council District #4.
The six-room house, pool and landscaping cost a total of $6,940 in 1940. Designed for a young couple, it contained a living room with a sliding door to the patio, two bedrooms, two baths, playroom, dining room and kitchen, all laid out on a 4-foot module. All rooms opened onto outdoor living areas, a very unusual feature. Ain had a reputation for designing ingenious floorplans, and this one was no exception. The Edwards House had its floor plate fastened to the foundation with steel straps, an unusual seismic precaution in 1936;
