The San Francisco outlet of the Hotel Monaco chain operated at 501 Geary Street in 2012. The Hotel Monaco brand was owned by the Kimpton Hotels group, specializing in luxury inns. The building had a U-shape, a typical plan type that allowed sunlight and fresh air to penetrate inner rooms of apartment buildings, hotels and office buildings before the advent of air-conditioning.
