The first Lincoln County Courthouse occupied a rented brick building located at the corner of 2nd Street and B Street in Sprague, WA, c. 1885. A three-story, "permanent" courthouse was erected by 11/1886, costing approximately $10,000. Sprague suffered a catastrophic fire in 1895, decimating the town, and necessitating the transfer of the county seat back to a rival community, Davenport, WA, where it has remained.
