Architect Harrison Albright (1866-1932) designed several houses and business buildings for millionaire investor, John D. Spreckels, once the latter moved to San Diego, CA, in 1907 from San Francisco, CA. One of Spreckels's business associates, the lawyer Harry Lewis Titus, commissioned this residence and garage on the southwest corner of Eighth Street and Orange Avenue from Albright on his recommendation. The Los Angeles construction firm of Noyes and Bogg erected this dwelling created entirely from reinforced concrete.
