Structure Type: built works - dwellings - houses - tract houses
Designers: McGrath Corporation (firm); McGrath (builder); Raymond Shapely (builder)
Dates: constructed 1967-1968
McGrath Corporation built this sub-division, with its "wide, rambling streets" and "park-like setting." The developers lauded the tract's plan which was insulation from noise and intrusions, describing it as "secluded, quiet and isolated from through traffic."
The split-level houses in this tract had four bedrooms, with room for a fifth in the basement. Houses had extensive living rooms, family rooms and separate dining rooms on the first floor. In their basements, some houses had space for a fifth bedroom, utility rooms, shops, recreation rooms and two-car garages. Yorkshire's large houses reflected the general prosperity of the 1960s in the Puget Sound region. Prices for houses in the Yorkshire Tract began at $19,450 in 1968.
