SYMPATHETIC BUYER NEEDED QUICKLY TO SAVE NEUTRA HOME We need a hero! Richard Neutra's 1949 Wirin House, at 2622 Glendower in Los Feliz, is on the market, and there's a very good chance it will be sold in probate as a tear-down. The probate sale is scheduled for March 15; the minimum bid is $1.18 million. The house is much larger than it appears from the street. It needs significant restoration, but there is no obvious indication of structural damage. The house is on two levels, with a fireplace on both levels. It is in original condition with built-in cabinets, daybed, and desk all intact. It has an amazing view of Los Angeles, as well as a beautiful pool on a terraced level in the backyard. There does appear to be interest from Neutra aficionados, but also from people who see it as a tear-down on a site with an incomparable view. The home is across the street from the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Ennis-Brown House. Prudential has the listing; you can reach them at 310.777.2858. Please pass this information on to anyone who might know someone interested in purchasing and restoring the house." (E-mail from Cindy Oleynick, LA Conservancy, Modern Committee, 03/05/2004)
