In 2012, this hospital managed 227 beds, and had a staff of 400 doctors and 1,300 employees. It had specialties in trauma/emergency medicine as well as women's health.
The Newhall Hospital was named for Henry Mayo Newhall (1825-1882), a prominent landowner and developer of real estate in the Santa Clarita, CA, area. Like many Euro-American property owners following California's accession to the Union, he obtained a former Spanish 46,460-acre land-grant estate, the Rancho San Francisco, for a bargain price. His Newhall Land and Farming Company continues to develop some of this original property. This hospital operated on land owned originally by Newhall. Tel: 661.253.8000 (2012).
