This firm, begun as Franklin Distributors, Incorporated, by Sir John Marks Templeton (1912-2008), started its operations in New York, NY in 1947. The investment management firm, important for popularizing mutual funds, switched its headquarters from New York to San Mateo, CA, in 1973.
