In 1963, the Seattle Times columnist, Dorothy Brant Brazier, observed that Cote (b. 1874) was the architect responsible for the Hammons Residence. (See Dorothy Brant Brazier, "Joseph Cote Left Mark on Seattle," Seattle Times, 09/11/1963, p. 19.) Cote also designed a 12th scale Colonial Revival doll house for the Hammons Family in 1939. This doll house later was donated to the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI).
