LRS Architects, Incorporated, designed the Charles Byrd Youth Service Center, in collaboration with Arthur L. Zigas and Associates (Mechanical Engineer), Cerbatos and Associates (Electrical Engineer) and The Crosby Group (Structural Engineer). The facility had a concrete masonry unit (CMU) frame, concrete block walls and standing seam metal roof; the interior contained a dormitory area, storage room and kitchen, constructed at a cost of $4 million.
