This portion of the Punahou School was named for Mary Persis Winne (b. 1876), a teacher at the Punahou School from 1918 to 1941. Hawaiian architect Vladimir Ossipoff (1907–1998) designed the Winne Units in three phases, completed by 1955. John T. Jacobsen (1903-1998) also did work on the buildings.
