Banker and businessman Aaron Guard Cloud (1818-1893) commissioned the Reid Brothers of Evansville, IN, to design his McLeansboro, IL, residence in 1882-1884. Cloud and his son Chalon Guard Cloud (1846-1908) previously retained the Reid Brothers to design their People's National Bank in McLeansboro erected 1880-1882. In 1975, the Hamilton County Historical Society established its Museum and McCoy Memorial Library in the Cloud Residence.
