Designed by the San Francisco architectural firm of the Reid Brothers, the 1,200-seat Sequoia Theatre opened to the public in 02/1929 and was operated by Bay Area exhibition chain, Blumenfeld Theatres, Incorporated, for about 50 years. The Reid Brothers did a thriving business designing theatres, producing dozens across the State of California.
