Building History
By 1911, C.W. Dore served as the President of the Belvedere Hospital. Dore worked with Albina A.L. Phelps and Anna Reseburg, the superintendents. (See Polk-Husted Company's San Jose, California City Directory, 1911-1912, p. 80.) The hospital was located in a former two-story residence, Queen Anne Style in appearance, at 117 North 5th Street. As noted in a 1911 ad, it was "A Modern hospital completely equipped for all surgical and medical cases." (See "Belvedere Hospital ad," Polk-Husted Company's San Jose, California City Directory, 1911-1912, page opposite p. 81.)
