Architects Irving J. Gill (1870-1936) and William S. Hebbard (1863-1930) designed this small residence for the lawyer Johnson Wagoner Puterbaugh (b. 09/26/1875 in Peoria, IL) and his new bride, Florence Gertrude Fairbanks Puterbaugh, (a native of MA), who were married 12/11/1901. They had one son, George Puterbaugh II, (born 09/25/1902), named for Johnson's father. Puterbaugh came from a family of lawyers and jurists. Another house of similar floor plan was located at Third Avenue and Ivy Street.
