A Methodist congregation first constructed this church at the intersection of Weddington Street and Bakman Avenue before the 1920s. In 1921, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese obtained the building to serve its expanding constituency in the San Fernando Valley, naming the new parish, the "Immaculate Conception Church." This name was used between 1921-1925, when the parish was renamed the "Saint Charles Borromeo Church." The parish remained at this location until growth forced a larger house of worship to be built at 10800 Moorpark Street, North Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA, in 1937-1938.
