Hunt and Grey designed this house for the Iowa-born banker, rancher and real estate developer Abraham Kingsley Macomber (d. 1955), who would marry an heiress of the Standard Oil fortune. Kingsley and his wife were also avid horse racing enthusiasts, and they kept horses on their ranch in San Benito County, CA. He spent his later years in Europe, where he died.
