The Irvine Company erected the Irvine Spectrum Center incrementally between 1995-2006. Its architecture patterned on the Moorish Alhambra palace complexes in Granada, Spain, the first building phase was completed in 1995, the second in 1998, third in 2002, fourth in 2005 and fifth in 2006.

In 2011, Nordstrom, Macy's, Target and H & M were all anchor tenants in the Irvine Spectrum Center. At this time, over 130 retail outlets composed the mall.
