In 1922, the G.W. Hume Company, founded in 1864 in San Francisco, CA, operated a cannery in Graton, CA, one of three in the state. Others were located in Turlock, CA, and Benicia, CA. The firm canned fruits, vegetables and salmon. The Hume Company also had salmon canneries in Union Bay, AK, and Scow Bay, AK, at this time.
