In 1922, the G.W. Hume Company, founded in 1864 in San Francisco, CA, operated a cannery in Turlock, CA, one of three in the state. Others were located in Benicia, CA, and Graton, CA. The firm canned fruits, vegetables and salmon. It also had salmon canneries in Union Bay, AK, and Scow Bay, AK, at this time.
