A short note in the 04/1922 issue of the Western Canner and Packer reported: Advices from Indio are that at the annual meeting of the Deglet Noor Date Growers' Association it was decided to begin construction of a modern packing plant on the association's property where the date festival was held last fall." This packing plant for dates was located on land controlled by the Deglet Noor Date Growers' Association cooperative in the desert community of Indio, CA.
