Builidng History
The California Prune and Apricot Growers Association, Incorporated, formed in 1917 to provide a cooperative processing and marketing unit for its fruits, and to helped to stabilize the market for it. This first headquarters was located on the southeast corner of Market Street and San Antonio Street in Downtown San Jose, CA. T. S. Montgomery served as President of the cooperative in 1922 which by this time owned thirty packing houses throughout CA, most clustered in the Santa Clara Valley. (See Eugene T. The California Prune and Apricot Growers Association, Incorporated, was an extremely important organization in Santa Clara County in 1918, representing the densest concentration of apricot and prune farmers in the world. Its building occupied a prominent corner in Downtown San Jose, CA.
