This was the first course in the United States laid out by the Scottish physician and golf course planner, Alistair MacKenzie (1870-1934). MacKenzie would go on to design several well-known courses, including Cypress Point (Pebble Beach, CA, 1928), Pasatiempo (Santa Cruz, CA, 1929) and Augusta National (Augusta, GA, 1933).
