The Crocker Family bought land at Pebble Beach, CA, from the Scottish-born Monterey County landlord David Jack or Jacks (1822-1909) in 1907. (The surname "Jacks" was an alteration from its original Scottish spelling of "Jack." Apparently, David Jack owned so much property in the Monterey area, that people became accustomed to referring to him in the possessive form.) Jack, being a large landowner, had had many dealings with the Southern Pacific Railroad, owned in part, by the Crocker Family. In 1874, Jack financed the creation of the Monterey and Salinas Railroad, intended to provide local farmers with an alternative, cheaper, grain-hauling route to the SP, but was forced to sell out to it in 1879, after the giant undercut the local line's prices. The Crockers erected this log cabin in 1908 which stood on the site until 1917.

Demolished; burned in a fire, 1917.
