The Fannie E. Morrison Horticultural Center (now Kidspace Children’s Museum) was designed in 1938 by noted local architect, Fitch Harrison Haskell (1883-1962), and was funded by a $55,000 donation from Fannie Demmon Morrison (b. 01/12/1857 in MA-d. 04/20/1941 in Los Angeles, CA). a wealthy widow, whose father Daniel Demmon (born 10/1830 in VT) was the treasurer of a copper mining company and whose husband, Barnabus T. Morrison, was the treasurer of a rubber mill. In 1930, her Pasadena residence at 425 South San Rafael Avenue had a value alone of $150,000, a very large sum at the time.
