This small, gabled roofed cottage sheltered James Lick's superintendent overseeing his Santa Clara, CA, agricultural estate. Lick (1796-1876), one of CA's richest landowners, was well known for his successful farm, on which he raised various fruit tree varieties and maintained a flour mill and granary. The Mansion Grove Apartments later occupied this property.
