The Convair Corporation formed following a merger of the Consolidated Aircraft Company and the Vultee Aircraft Company in 1941. General Dynamics Corporation purchased all of Convair as of 01/01/1953, and made it a separate division. This arrangement lasted until 1994, when the remains of the Convair Division were sold off by General Dynamics. This Pomona plant advertised in the Los Angeles Times (02/11/1962) for engineers and research scientists to staff its tactical missile and electronics development operations (p. O17.) Experts in the following fields were being sought, as America ramped up its missile systems following Sputnik in 1957: optics and infrared, solid state electronics, dynamics analysis, radar systems, weapon system preliminary design, thermodynamics--analytical and experimental, aerodynamics--analytical and experimental, and human factors.

This plant was in operation c. 1962.
