A county park now on the grounds of the Horseshoe Ranch, the former estate of the motion picture actor, William S. Hart, who made silent films between 1914-1928, most of which were westerns; Hart died in 1946 and deeded his property to the County of Los Angeles, which in turn, entrusted its operation to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and and a new non-profit organization, the William S. Hart Museum
