Building Notes
The Pickwick Hotel was in the Mission-Spanish Revival Style, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1978, facing mass demolitions by Anaheim's Community Redevelopment Commission, historic preservationists sought to place the Pickwick Hotel along with 23 other buildings/sites in an historic preservation district in Downtown Anaheim. These buildings/sites included the Anaheim City Hall, Ferdinand Baxhaus House, California Building, Carnegie Library, 1st Presbyterian Church, Fox Theatre Building, German Methodist Church, Church of His Holy Presence, Angelina Kraemer Hotel, Kraemer Garage, Samuel Kraemer Building, Marietta Court Apartments, Martinet Hardware Building, Masonic Temple, Richard Melrose House, Pearson Park, Pickwick Hotel, Rosemarie Apartments, SQR Department Store, Union Pacific Railroad Depot, Zion Lutheran Church. Only a small number of these 24 buildings/sites were preserved, including the Carnegie Library, Samuel Kraemer Building, Pearson Park.
