In the Cooks Block, an Italianate building located at 300 SW 2nd Avenue, architect Warren H. Williams (1844-1888) employed some cast iron structural members, seen in the framing of the first floor facade. He used brick primarily for load-bearing purposes. The building, at the intersection of SW 2nd Avenue and Oak Street, had commercial storefronts on the first floor and offices above and was said to have cost $20,000 in 1884.
Demolished; the Cooks Block was taken down in 1965.
