Building Notes

Carl Maston, for whom architect Ray Kappe had worked in the early 1950s, requested that Kappe design a compatible apartment building on a lot next to one of his design in West Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA. (See Thomas Hines, Architecture of the Sun: Los Angeles Modernism 1900-1970," [New York: Rizzoli International Publications, Incorporated, 2010], p. 503.)

Kappe's first independent work, it won various accolades, including a design prize from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
