A 1943 advertisement for Montgomery Ward indicated that the store was located at "Post at Trent."

Montgomery Ward and Company's in-house design and engineering department created this Art Deco design, the first in Spokane, according to its City Historic Preservation Office. Montgomery Ward operated in this building between 1929-1978, when it moved to a new location on Division Street. In 1979, the City of Spokane obtained the building and re-purposed it for usage as a new City Hall.
