Building History

An establishment called the "Hotel Imperial" was located at 4902 Rainier Avenue, Seattle, WA, in 1912.

Building Notes

The Hotel Imperial was in operation in 1900. A classified advertisement for a "newly opened bath parlor by Eastern lady" offering massage and Turkish baths, ran in the Seattle Daily Times on 01/29/1900, page 9. Other massage parlors were advertised in the same issue for Madame Jennie Edgar's establishment at 218 1/2 Columbia Street, Madame La Blanche's at 320 Union Street, one at 113 Columbia Street ("over the Banquet," presumably a restaurant), one at 606 2nd Avenue, and a place in Room 21 of the Union Block. All of the massage parlors indicated that a woman owned the business or a "lady attendant" was present.
