This one-story grocery store had Spanish Colonial Revival details and extensive clerestories to allow daylight deep into the interior.
This building housing the Piggly Wiggly Supermarket also housed two other storefronts. In 1934, this Piggly Wiggly Store had a street address of 1300 East 45th Street (later 1300 NE 45th Street), on the northeast corner of NE 45th and NE 13th (Brooklyn) Avenue. It was one of 36 stores in the City of Seattle.
The Martin and Eckmann Store remodeled one of the storefronts in the 1940s. Its exterior was clad in Virtolite while a large sign spelled out "Martin & Eckmann" in bold white letters on the heightened facade face.
Demolished; the University District Branch of the Rainier National Bank took the place of this market.
