This two-story Mission Revival Style building also served as a depot for Amtrak/Burlington Northern Railroads, the latter the Northern Pacific's successor. The building was occupied later by the Yakima Brewing and Malting Company, considered the first independent brew pub since Prohibition. Its Scottish-born owner, Bert Grant (1928-2001), established his company's Grants Brewery Pub in the Yakima Opera House in 1982, later moving its location to the train station. (See "Bert Grant, 73, a Beer Maker Who Developed Microbreweries."Accessed 12/16/2013.) In 2013, the Depot Restaurant and Lounge operated in the former Northern Pacific station.
