Henry T. Hazard (1844-1921), a Michigan-born settler in Southern California, who served as the Mayor of Los Angeles from 1889–1892, occupied this residence in 1900. Hazard obtained his legal degree from the University of Michigan in 1868, and served as a City Attorney in Los Angeles before becoming Mayor. In 04/1909, the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Southern California Conference of the Methodist Church purchased the house and renovated it to become an 18-bed hospital, operating by 08/1909. Funds were being raised for a new facility by 1913, and a new building was erected in 1914-1915.

The Methodist Hospital of Southern California #2 was also known as "John Wesley Hospital," c. 1909.

Demolished c. 1914. The Methodist Hospital of Southern California #3 was erected on this lot in 1914-1915.
